Setting Up Visitor Stats For Blog

Before beginning this tutorial you will need to install and activate the free Jetpack plugin. Read this post for instructions on how to install Jetpack.

There are countless plugins out there for self-hosted WordPress blogs that can track and show different stats, but using Jetpack Stats through the Jetpack plugin is a simple and convenient option. The Stats feature is automatically turned on when you install Jetpack, so you don't have to do anything extra to enable it.

In this chapter, we'll discuss how to check your stats, what they indicate, and how to adjust and personalize the module to meet your needs.

Viewing Your Website’s Stats

If you want to see statistics, you must add the Site Stats widget to your admin control panel by following these steps:

1. Navigate to your admin dashboard by clicking on "Dashboard" near the top-left corner.

2. Click on the "Screen Options" button on the right, and tick the box next to "Site Stats". Once you have enabled this option, you can see the number of visits to your site, the most popular pages, and the search terms that lead people to your site.

   3. To get a thorough overview of statistics for your WordPress site, go to Jetpack > Stats on your admin dashboard. Here you can find details on referrals, subscriptions, and clicks. For even more stats, visit wordpress.com/my-stats and log in to your account.

By utilizing the WordPress.com Stats module, you can quickly view an overview of how your website is performing without needing to navigate away from the admin dashboard. Yet, for a more in-depth analysis, you may opt to integrate a well-known tool like Google Analytics seamlessly.
